How To Pick A Crib
It might be surprising to many, but not every crib has a rectangular shape. Also, they don’t just become completely useless after your kid reaches two years old. Below are some of the baby crib types, plus the advantages of each one.
Standard baby crib
This is the type of baby crib that most people know, which has slats on the longer sides and are shaped as a rectangle. They’re the most popular choice and the one that is probably cheapest. Since it’s so often found and the shape and size are standardized, the price is usually cheaper, both for the crib and the mattresses, bedding and other accessories.
Convertible crib
This is a type of rectangular crib which you can make into a single bed once the baby is too big to stay in a regular crib. You pay a bit more for a convertible crib, but you use it for a longer period of time, so in the long run you end up saving some money. In some cases, these cribs can even be converted to queen size beds, so if you can afford to pay a bit more, they can be a good choice.
Round crib
The round cribs usually look much better, almost regal, though the price matches their looks. They come with spindles, found around the circle, and if you have a big room, you should place them in the room’s center, as they look best there. One of the advantages is that it’s wide all around, so the baby will not hit his head when he falls back after standing up.
Corner cribs
This type of crib is shaped as a wedge (like one quart of a pie). It’s used for placement in a nursery’s corner and the space occupied is less than with a standard crib. Many people like to place them in the corners of the room, keeping twins in them.
